Spring Riding on Drummond Island

Mar 11, 2026

Coming Soon… The First Ride of the Season

There’s a moment every year when riders start thinking about the first ride of the season.

The woods are still quiet. Snow lingers along the trails. The island feels like it’s waking up slowly.

Spring riding has its own rhythm. The air is crisp, the trails are uncrowded, and wildlife begins to move again through the woods and wetlands. Evenings end around a fire after a full day outdoors.

For many guests, it’s their favorite time of year to visit.

Your Basecamp for Adventure

Northern Properties cabins are located near trail access points and provide a comfortable place to relax after a day outdoors. Many guests trailer their machines or ride directly from the property to connect with the island’s trail network.

Several Northern Properties cabins are available for spring weekends. If you’re planning your first ride of the season, now is a great time to reserve your basecamp.

Early Season Riding Tips

  • Check trail conditions before heading out
  • Ride responsibly and stay on designated trails
  • Be prepared for changing conditions such as soft ground or spring runoff
  • Pack water, snacks, and a trail map or GPS
  • Let someone know your riding plans

Where to Start

Many riders stage their rides near the Four Corners area, where several trail connections make it easy to explore the island.

From there, riders can head north toward Maxton Plains, east toward scenic shoreline areas like Glen Cove, or explore miles of interior forest trails.

Stewardship Matters

Responsible recreation helps keep Drummond Island’s trail system open and enjoyable for everyone. Each spring, local riders and volunteers gather to help prepare the trails for the season ahead.

The Drummond Island Off-Road Alliance (DIORA) will host its Spring Trail Cleanup on April 25, and visitors are welcome to participate. CLICK HERE to follow DIORA on Facebook for the most up-to-date information.

Whether you’re planning a weekend ride with friends or a quiet outdoor escape, Drummond Island offers a place to reconnect with nature.
